Washington Post publisher urges Biden administration to help rescue journalists in Afghanistan

Washington Post publisher Fred Ryan urged the Biden administration Monday to help safely evacuate American journalists and their families from Afghanistan. The Post’s publisher directly emailed U.S. National Security advisor Jake Sullivan as the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan, asking him to make sure reporters from The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post can safely exit. "Jake, Urgent request on behalf of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post is to have our 204 journalists, support staff and families transported by US Military from the civilian side of the Kabul airport to the military side of the airport where they can be safe as they await evacuation flights,""They are currently in danger and need the US government to get them to safety," Ryan added. Guinea reports first-ever case of rare and deadly Marburg virus

virus has been detected for the first time in the African nation of Guinea, according to health officials who warn that it could spread “far and wide.” The World Health Organization (WHO) immediately issued a warning about the disease, saying that swift action is necessary to prevent it from exploding like Ebola, which is part of the same family of viruses. “The potential for the Marburg virus to spread far and wide means we need to stop it in its tracks,” said Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, the WHO’s regional director for Africa, in a statement. “We are working with the health authorities to implement a swift response that builds on Guinea’s past experience and expertise in managing Ebola, which is transmitted in a similar way.” Health officials in Guinea say they have identified four high-risk contacts with the infected patient. Another 146 people at risk were also identified, 

Jos killing: CAN pained, urges arrest of perpetrators

The Christian Association of Nigeria Plateau chapter, has condemned killing of commuters at Rukuba road, in Jos North Local Government Area of the state. In a statement on Sunday in Jos, CAN chairman in the state, Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, urged security agencies to fish out the perpetrators. Criminals on Saturday, attacked a convoy of buses conveying commuters, killed 22 persons and injured scores. Lubo also condemned ongoing killings in Bassa, Riyom, Jos South and Barkin Ladi local government areas. “We wish to express deep pain over the recent attacks in Riyom, Jos North, Barakin Ladi and Bassa, leading to loss of lives and property. “The leadership of CAN totally condemns these attacks and pleads with security agents to ensure normalcy is restored. “Every human life is precious and the unlawful killing of any human being, regardless of their identity and affiliation, is unacceptable. ”We mourn with the families of those who lost their loved ones, as well as those who have...
